Our Mission-The Flight Plan

image20

Our focus is on creating an active learning space where children ages 6-13 can investigate through hands-on participation, experimentation, and healthy competition. Our desire is to provide children access to fun and challenging enrichment  experiences and camps related to STEM.

We are equipped to work with students who have minor learning differences. However, we are not able to meet the needs of students with moderate to severe learning differences or developmental delays.  We ask that you, as the parent, consider your child’s developmental level, current level of behavior, attention, and self control prior to enrolling him/her into this academic enrichment program. It is upsetting for the child and to all involved if we are unable to maintain their enrollment.

About the Owner/Director

Kathryn Lavery

The STEM Hangar®  was created in early 2018. It has been the dream of Mrs. Lavery's long before that time! Kathryn's mission is to provide exciting enrichment camps and classes in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math to students of all abilities, learning differences, and socioeconomic backgrounds.  With a master's degree and  teaching experience in grades 1-8, Kathryn has taught both science and math in the home school, private school, and public school sectors. Here at The STEM Hangar, she has found a way to incorporate her passion for teaching with her love of flying. Within the 3,125 square foot facility, Kathryn and her husband, Mark (Captain, Delta Air Lines) have created a flight themed facility including a basic mock up of a plane with a non-moving student flight simulator.  Kathryn believes that students will soar when they are empowered and given the time and opportunity to explore, create, invent, and question.
